Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist

The Supported Employment (SE) Program functions as one of the programs within the VHA Vocational Rehabilitation Service. The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) has the responsibility for utilizing best practices to assist Veterans with employment. The focus is to promote optimal vocational functioning of Veterans within the community, in the context of prescribed job development interventions specified in the Veterans' treatment plans. The VRS spends the majority of their work hours in the community working directly with community agencies and employers to identify or create job opening and assists Veterans in obtaining and maintaining suitable employment. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The VRS is responsible for developing a vocational assessment to determine the areas of vocational interests, identifies individuals' strengths and determines the services are needed to successfully obtain suitable employment. Enter initial assessments data, individualized treatment plans, and discharge summaries into the electronic medical record and NEPEC CWT program evaluation forms and ensuring all services adhere to CARF guidelines. Document all interactions with participant within the electronic medical record system CPRS and capture workload for DSS. The VRS networks with community employers, community agencies, and community business with the goal of developing professional relationships with these groups in order to assist Veterans in obtaining and maintaining suitable community employment. Works with established programs to provide significant modifications to accommodate any severe limitations. Assist Veteran in networking with contacts within the community, and members of their personal support group. Will seek opportunities to provide constructive feedback to the Veteran with the goal of improving the probability of obtaining community employment. Responsible for ensuring that the Veteran is aware of the employer's expectations and possess the skills to support and meet those expectations. Experience:
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, rehabilitation, or related field and experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/15/2020. Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. You must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization which has equipped you with the knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist in a healthcare organization. GS-11 candidates must have:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Pertinent skills such as job seeking skills, training, resume development, or interview skills, entering initial assessments data, individualized treatment plans, and discharge summaries into the electronic medical record, coordinates with various resources to locate service and employment opportunities in the community, provides ongoing support and guidance throughout all phases of job search, monitors and provides support and encouragement to Veteran, ability to utilize considerable ingenuity and persuasiveness to meet case specific limitations, counsels and guides employee through difficult transition or rough spots in the adjustment to the job, and reports program progress in accordance with established procedure. 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree (related to position) or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (related to position) or LL.M. (related to position). You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
