Psychiatrist (Outpatient)

The candidate will be a physician who is highly skilled in the management of patient's mental health needs and evaluation and treatment of diverse range of mental disorders. She/he will carry an outpatient clinical workload along with assigned administrative and professional responsibilities; coordinate patient care, conduct history, physical exams and mental status exams on assigned patients; complete intake assessments and formulate diagnosis; and develop and present treatment plans to the multidisciplinary treatment team. Orders all necessary laboratory and radiological assessments; initiates consults, referrals, psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy as indicated; and maintains effective and up to date documentation of patient encounters. Preferred candidates will have excellent interpersonal and clinical skills for providing primary mental health care to veteran patients. The position is expected to obtain/maintain buprenorphine credentialing and will participate in a large pool of rotating call. Not Required The candidate must be willing to work weekends and irregular work hours and may need to provide clinical services off tour and will be required to do so upon receiving critical clinical messages. The candidate must be willing to be placed, detailed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary. All providers may be detailed to any site within the Orlando system. The selectee will be required to work or travel between any of the locations within Corporate Orlando. The selectee may also be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis, based on patient care needs To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/31/2019. Basic Requirements:
Citizenship:
Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.) Education:
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Licensure:
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country. Residency/Fellowship Training:
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. English Language Proficiency:
Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Preferred

Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examination is administered by VA Occupational Health. This position requires:
light to moderate lifting (15 - 44 lbs.); light carrying (15 lbs. and under); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (up to 2 hours); standing (up to 2 hours); kneeling (up to 1 hour); ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13 to 16; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; depth perception; ability to distinguish basic colors; ability to distinguish shades of colors; hearing (aid permitted); emotional stability; mental stability; working closely with others; and working alone.
