Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Director of Building Science and TopBuild Home Services (TBHS) Field Operations will lead all aspects of TBHS field operations and drive service profitability through effective service delivery including:
Management of field rating and testing, regional / market leadership and training personnel Ensuring accurate execution of all testing and other services Management of customer relationships Ensuring compliance with all Legal, Safety, HR, Fraud and other company policies and all RESNET and other 3rd party standards Understanding key business programs, services, codes or 3rd party partners including but not limited to plan review, energy modeling, HERS scoring, Energy Star, LEED for Homes, HVAC, code compliance, tax credit programs, climate zone code requirements, IECC codes and more Partnering with peers in Sales and Business Operations to ensure optimal business processes and customer relationship management Driving key financial and business results Maintaining a culture of safety and accountability Essential Functions / Specific Deliverables Management / Personnel:
Cultivate relationships with and drive the performance of regional managers.
Ensure consistent oversight of field raters in all markets and at all levels Communicate and evaluate field focus on safety, vehicle maintenance and management, equipment care and upkeep Ensure all services are delivered accurately, with quality, consistent with any TBHS or 3rd party standards Drive granular, local awareness of team schedules, work volume, hours, safety and fraud results and other key information and help regional managers adopt the same Serve as escalation point for field teams to help understand or produce results, execute to key policies, translate requirements to other project teams, engage customers and more Provide feedback to TBHS senior management on recommended improvements to testing, training and oversight process Safety, Fleet and Equipment Accountable for all personnel safety in assigned territories and for all safety metrics Ensure weekly, monthly and annual safety curriculum is implemented with all field personnel Accountable for all equipment and vehicle assignments, maintenance and management, safety checks, Azuga fleet reporting and usage.
Responsible for recurring vehicle report requirements Ensure all services are delivered accurately, with quality, consistent with any TBHS or 3rd party standards Training Help develop a uniform field training program Ensure concise and standard training is provided to all new and existing testing personnel Ensure all testing personnel are proficient in the operation of all required testing equipment and all testing is conducted within RESNET and company standards.
Ensure all testing personnel are proficient in the use of Project Manager and data entry.
Testing Performance / Fraud Management Oversee ongoing audits of all testing personnel to ensure they are following program/company testing standards.
Identify any instances of fraud or improper data entry or improper testing procedures.
Work with Director of Business Operations and regional managers to ensure delivery of all services are provided in a professional and ethical manner.
Work with customers to ensure optimal scheduling accuracy Ensure testing work is completed on time and all required data and test results are logged within business programs or with customers, helping to deliver timely revenue recognition Oversee local warranty claims and escalations in field markets Field Customer Engagement Accountable for the success of local customer relationships Accountable to drive local teams to work with customers to drive optimal local scheduling accuracy Coach field raters and others to ensure customers are compliant with business and contractual requirements, 3rd party codes and program requirements, TBHS safety standards and other essential company policies Results Reporting and Process/Performance Management Responsible for driving the self-service of critical systems, reports and processes among market managers and field personnel Accountable for understanding how key business processes and systems work and driving team to accurately perform processes and use systems Responsible for providing feedback to peers and senior leaders on how to simplify or improve Accountable for cultivating strong and productive relationship with key plan review and operational leads Responsible for results analysis and performance improvement plans related to assigned financial or other metrics Cross-Business Unit engagement Cultivate relationships with TruTeam and Service Partners leadership and regional leaders Support TruTeam divisions with training and insulation auditing/application assistance Service Delivery Profitability Accountable to drive the operating profit, variable expense and labor expense targets of the assigned territory Accountable for the profitability of individual customer service delivery Manage and reduce trip and re-test volume Ensure service delivery matches contracted services Ensure field testing personnel are logging all trips, tests and services Ensure testing work is completed on time and all required data and test results are logged helping to deliver timely revenue recognition MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 4-year college degree preferred 15
years of work-related experience Experience running a P+L business unit and delivering top and bottom line results Experience managing a large, distributed team across multiple markets Experience in construction industry, building science and building performance and energy code testing Current or one-time HERS rater certification a plus KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY Strong professional and interpersonal skills:
