Employees in this classification perform supervisory work.
Position is responsible for activities involving preparing reports, maintaining schedule for subordinate personnel and responding to customers and other department worker calls.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications Education, Training & Experience - High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training with emphasis in supervision and/or construction; and three (3) to five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes heavy equipment operation and supervisory training directly related to Sport Field Maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS State of Florida Public Applicator License, State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Best Management Practices (BMP) and State of Florida Commercial Fertilizer License.
Must obtain within 6 months of hire.
Job Description ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
Supervises the numerous work crews in the performance of technical work within the division, such as Maintenance Supervisor I, Maintenance Workers and Equipment Operators in street, highway, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, park and roadway construction, and maintenance and similar tasks involving manual labor operations.
Assists subordinates in the performance of assigned work.
Ensures jobs are completed correctly and safely.
Trains and instructs subordinates; initiates disciplinary measures and incidents.
Gathers cost estimates for purchasing.
Maintains materials needed for work and crews; prepares schedule for equipment for safety and repairs.
Attends Supervisor, staff and safety meetings.
Investigates and handles citizen complaints and requests.
Assists in the preparation of budget information.
Coordinates special event projects.
Prepares inventory and supply information; prepares work reports; processes all bills and statements.
Conducts all shipping and receiving of materials.
Performs computer input in areas such as finance, data and divisional records.
Maintains working knowledge of new materials.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS Assists with other departments requiring assistance.
Assists with special events.
Performs other related duties as required.
